Angels on the Beach Getaway; a Soaring Success

On June 29, 2007, Brad Davis, Assistant Manager for Wal-Mart on Creighton Road, pulled ticket number 600 belonging to Carla Ziglioli of Gulf Breeze, FL.  Not only did Carla win a 3-night stay at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front, but she won it for Blue Angels weekend!  Every year, Independence for the Blind of West Florida holds a drawing to win a 3-night stay at the Hilton during Blue Angels weekend.  This year, the drawing took place at the Wal-Mart on Creighton Road.  IB West employees grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and gave out Papa John’s Pizza to those who stopped by the booth.  There were also appearances by Ice Man of the Ice Pilots, and Cat Country 98.7 who provided music and games to Wal-Mart shoppers throughout the event.  A donation of $5 for 2 tickets was all it took to win this great weekend getaway, which also includes a meal package with gift certificates to various restaurants on and near Pensacola Beach.  Thanks to participation from supporters who entered the drawing, IB West was able to raise over $4,000 to help provide services to the blind and visually impaired in West Florida.

Past winners of the Angels on the Beach Getaway include Pensacola locals Rita “Kitty” Loughridge and Roger and Nancy Humphrey.  Independence for the Blind holds this fundraiser annually, so be sure to participate next year. You could be the lucky winner.

IB West is a non-profit agency that teaches independent living skills,

computer and adaptive technology, and provides vocational assessments, training and employment related services to people who are blind or visually impaired. The goal of these programs is to help the blind achieve maximum independence.
