Independence for the Blind’s Angels on the Beach Getaway has Local Winner

            A five dollar donation to benefit Independence for the Blind of West Florida (IB West) was all it took to win the Angels on the Beach Getaway. This year’s winner, Rita Loughridge, better known as Kitty from Speed-D-Print, will enjoy a three night stay in a gulf-front room at Hilton Garden Inn, Pensacola Beach. The prize package includes a stay on Blue Angels Weekend, July 14, 15 and 16. As part of the grand prize, she will also receive a meal package including certificates to beach restaurants and an assorted getaway gift basket.

The drawing was held June 19, 2006 at the Independence for the Blind office.  Kitty’s winning ticket was pulled by members of the Pensacola Ice Pilots staff, and then announced that evening on 98.7 Cat Country. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit IB West, a private nonprofit agency dedicated to helping the blind and visually impaired achieve maximum independence.  IB West provides instruction in daily living skills, computer operation, and vocational rehabilitation free of charge to the blind of all ages.
